Ive actually noticed this too , it started happening a few years ago cus i sometimes watch battles and no matter which unit defending when one attacking unit dies the hp of the defending unit gets restarted if its only 1.
Sometimes it happens sometimes it doesnt though so idk

I've seen weird stuff happening with damage many times too. Mostly in custom maps/scenarios and with bigger units (lots of attack/def and hp 20-30+) so I didn't care to investigate. What I posted here just pissed me off. Imagine having luck this bad with the damage rolls and then being slapped in the face by this bug

Without looking at code I can't be sure but I have a theory:
Rule that saves the last defender in case when it and the attacker kill each other at the same time is applied at incorrect time.
It should only happen when last units in both stacks die at the same time.
I think it is happening when the last defender kills and dies to the last attacker in a group in a stack. Basically it kills the last unit type (for me it was a Infantry). The rule might be applied for the last unit type in a stack instead of the last unit in the whole stack.
If that is the case in theory, defending unit with high enough def/crit can kill multiple attacking units in a row instead of dying. I never made a custom map/scenario but if something like this happens again I might just to test

I have always found sending marines from the US and SA to the indo pacific is a great way. Secure australia and indonesia and thats decent reins and a decent economy and you can continue to harass southeast asia. assuming imp strategy usa could consolidate west africa and just infantry spam through africa which is normally ignored but the reins stack quickly to pressure mideast. depends how long europe can hold though cause things there look very grim

When unit receives damage equal or greater to its HP it dies (I'm aware that it will survive if it is last defender that simultaneously kills the last attacker).

I havent been on in a while and just now seen your guys support- thank you. I'm promoting this topic to spread my apology as far out as possible. Before I go MIA for months again the active players should get on discord and maybe we can salvage together 1 classic game mode together like Zombie UN or GGG or something nostalgic for the old guard- like them old historical nuts who get together every now and then to re-enact a civil war battle. I hope this games around when im 80 years old with Alzheimer's and I'm living in a nursing home where the 19-20 sum CNA girl is more invested in her I Phone 55 than making sure my ass is wiped - because in that moment when life sucks- I want this to be the thing that anchors me to a happy place when I no longer have my consciousness ( is a dark humor joke- but fr I love y'all even if you joined after the game died- I love you even more)

Pre-Covid Days from 2012-2018 was this games peak era. IDK when, how or the exact moment this game began its downward spiral but I hope and pray the new owners analyze what lead to the games downfall and do everything possible to revert the current course. I've been patiently waiting since 2022 (after the COVID Spike in activity died down immensely) for the game to recover, for the glory days of UN games, GGG games, WW1 scenarios, all that. If you ask me yknow what the issue was? The game got stale, the best map makers quit, the most popular players retired due to life things, and the genre of mil sims and war games is a genre that's dying due in part to the fact that the 90s, and early 2000s babies are aging away from this. When I started playing I was a dweeb, young newly married, and years later I come back, divorced, kids in highschool- I'm fatter, my hairs not as full as before, the same thing all old players and the old guard of this game are going through. you ask me, the only thing that'll save us- is the next generation of kids. But look across the gaming industry as a whole- Call of Duty games, Battle Field games, age of empires 4, Victoria 3, all these new modern war games have in common? from studios with millions and billions to spend? THEY ALL SUCK, THEYRE ALL doing poorly compared to the war games a decade ago - same genre. same players so in theory people would love em, but no, now kids wanna play Fortnite and whatever other BS YouTube streamers got going on. This game is dying because we don't have a Ferran or a god damn Baby Shark streaming the game play. Sorry for the rant but its da truth. IDK get a stupid millennial to stream us - introduce ads - use revs to pay for younger audience attention, instead of sucking this thing bone dry until the people who love this game die and the cash cow goes away forever.

Definitely gonna bump this. It's been the better part of five years since it was posted but this would be huge for scenario design.
