Hi people.

What do you think about a single player game type agains AI? For that hours when nobody is online or when you want to play with a lower speed...
I know, thats a lot of work, but i think that would be very nice and make the game even more adicting.
Maybe you can do an offline version as well.

Sorry for the bad english and keep up the excelent job.

I think a singleplayer game type would be a nice addition once all the features that the owners want to add are implemented.

However the AI should be really hard and almost impossible to beat 1 on 1.

I do think the focus should be on multiplayer.

The developers have already addressed this:

I know that the main priority for this game is to be playable online, and it is very adept in that regard. But I can't help but feel the need to have computer opponents to play against- training, if you will. A world map with a simple country-select & computer opponent (including difficulty settings) feature would really be nice.

We also have AI planned, but it's rather low-priority at the moment.

Yeah, I feel that setting up a computer opponent that is still a challenge to anyone who has played more than 3 games would be nearly impossible. Look at the strategy games made by major companies (Starcraft, Commander and Conqueror, etc.) and even there play against the comp is so easy and the computer's actions are so easily predicted and countered that for the most part, the higher difficulty settings don't improve AI tactics, they just let them cheat and get more money or build units faster. And in turn-based games like the Total War series, the computer tends to be even worse, which is remedied by hyper-aggression and purely absurd strategies (like computer players ganging up on a human even if he is on the other side of the map and ignoring everything next to them).
Especially in larger games, Afterwind requires so much long-term planning and careful responses to events that it would be impossible to create a challenging AI. A basic AI for beginners would be good, but even then they'll learn much more from playing against other people. I mean, when you get SP even if you lose, there's no reason not to!

How about some sort of campaign that utilizes the story that was made for the game? If it would work I could write the story line, as that's what im good at ^^

I support this idea.
Not sure how it would work though. AI programming is quite complex, if we want it to be hard to predict.

AI/Single Player and Downloadable AW - Can you make AI for me to play against in single player mode? Also can I download the game to play it offline?
We have AI planned, but it's rather low-priority at the moment. We're not planning to make a downloadable version to play offline. http://afterwind.com/forum/topic.php?topic_id=5&board_page=2

There is no update on single player.

Try not to bring threads from three years ago up. Locked.
