The beginner's room always has more players than the normal room. many mid level players don't like playing against higher level players, but don't seem to understand that they're the backbone of the normal rooms. Beginner's rooms should only be for people learning the game, not for mid level players who are afraid of high level players. My opinion is Rank 5 should be the cap, if you get to rank 6 and you're terrible, you're not going to get any better without playing better opponents anyway. Rank 6 was a grind for me and I'm great at grinding SP if I want to, not all players are so lucky, I can only imagine how hard it would take a bad player to reach rank 6. Basically my point is Rank 5 should be the cut off based on the sp gap between levels that starts at 5.

I think what it's currently at is fine. Rank 6's are at a perfect position where they know enough to defend themselves against some players in the main lobby but can still be beaten by some r5's in the beginners.

When I was a rank 6 i was playing 3v3's and beginning to play cw's.

Actually a rank 5 who's interested and willing to learn and take tips on playing as well as what upgrades to buy can easily play in main and hold his own (speaking from experience). However, the quality of players has sharply deteriorated and I find myself unwilling to let in even rank 7 players nowadays when before you could let in rank 6 even occasionally rank 5 players and still expect a decent game. This is, I believe, a result of Ivan and Amok increasing the maximum rank allowed in beginner lobby to 6 from 5, and then further to 7.

Players were dropping off at rank 5 due to the skill disparity, or just making new accounts, we got a lot more complaints and problems with alts smashing new players at rank 5 beginner cap, though i agree its a fine line. My personal thoughts are rank 7 players are to strong for the beginners room, you can of course make your own games and invite whoever you like.

The complaints are not about the upgrades, which are the only relevance of rank.
If they were, then 0-7 would be fine since people get essential upgrades mostly at rank 8 (I got faster inf at r6, but that's only because I knew I wanted to be competitive)

The complaints are regarding skill.

Skill is not related to rank.
At rank 6 I farmed beginners room to 1.1k elo.
I see people unable to get past 1k elo at rank 10 (even with 0-10 duels).
What matters is not the rank, it's how strong the ranks are.

The level range is kind of irrelevant because you can still join a game in beginners if you have a link to the game and it's not set to filter out specific levels. I see people do that all the time.

Beginners should only allow ranks 0-10, people within that range are awful at playing this game; main should allow ranks 11-20 only.

The beginner room is filled with alts and guests who are high ranks that decide to prey on new players because they cant find any games in the main lobby.

I was a rank 5 beating rank 8s and 9s. Rank isn't a measure of skill, it's a measure of experience to an extent and a measure of how much you've had to spend on upgrades. The Normal room should be the bigger room, but the beginner's room outpaces it 2-1 most of the time I'm on.

When the rank cap for beginners was 3 there were barely any players in the beginner room so they changed it to 4. It was initially supposed to be training wheels. Now everyone just wants to leave the training wheels on and it sucks that I have to play on an alt because there are no games to play on my main.

I support the days when they kicked you out after rank 3, the main lobby had tons more games and while it may have been a big difference in skill level in many cases you learned the hard way and got good. Hell just today I played with a rank 6 who didn't understand what stealth units were! I say change it back to 3 and see what happens.

It won't really matter because there's still a game loophole where you can play games in beginners if you have a link to the game, until that loophole is fixed, rank is kind of irrelevant unless the game is given a rank limit(which most beginner games don't)

The loop hole was there for intended purpose for low ranks to invite higher ranked friends to help teach them usually in a 1v1 setting if I am not mistaken. Even still though, in those days it still seemed like rank 5s and 6s were better with that system skill wise.

Why are we talking about rank 5 6 and 7 players? We should cap it at 5. 5 is the first long level, it makes sense to disallow rank 6 and beyond to play in beginner's room as there is no more real development that any of those ranks can get from playing beginner's. The issue at hand is that at all times of the day the beginner's room has twice the number of people as the main room. Shouldn't the beginner's room be called main and the main be called advanced then? I mean, the main room is supposed to be the biggest room population, right?

Also in the main room you can still set a level range, right? So a rank 6 who wants a game for players 0-7 could create that same game in the main room, right?

But the point is to populate the main room first and the beginner's room second, not the other way around.....

That's contradictory because if you can bypass the level range and play in beginners doesn't that mean there will be having people playing in room that SHOULDN'T be populated?

WTF are you talking about ? The point of dropping the rank cap to 5 for beginners is to kick rank 6+ to the main room. I think the beginner's should be restricted to 1-5. Have you not read a thing I've posted?

Which is exactly why r6 belongs in the main room. currently 6-7 are in the beginner's rooms, so that's where they play.

Have you not read a thing I've posted? What I've been saying is that if you're well above the rank limit, say level 8 you can play games in beginners room if you're provided a link to the game which is a contradiction to the entire rank limit range because you can easily just use that loophole to play in beginners. So before even trying to touch the rank limit range you want to make it so that NO ONE can play in beginners after they've left.

I have an idea,
Very hard to get higher ranks from r6 and up so my idea is to make ranks easier to earn and make more ranks for example 50 so then begginer room 0-25 And Main 25-50 or 0-15,15-30, 30-50

Beginners mode should be a non serious mode where u learn how to move units etc and, I'm damn sure people learn that by R7. Simply transport them to the main mode where they can learn things more faster after seeing other players playing aggressively unlike beginners mode.

Should be rank 5 really, however account retention is much lower and produces a lot of complaints from players transitioning to the main lobby and leads to a disproportionate level of alts in the beginner lobby at this level, with a much higher skill level then their relevant peers, making it more difficult for genuine noobs to learn the game and resulting in a lower player retention rate.

The most ideal fix is to split the lobbies in terms of game type instead of rank and allow players to set rank limits in non premium mode up to rank 7. Only issue is noobs are more exposed to toxic established players from the outset and removes a feature to motivate premium purchases.

Beginners rooms should be capped at r5.

However, as a current r5, it gets pretty frustrating if the default setting on some games in the main lobby are set at r6-20. I can't join those games even if I want to.

Should allow regular accounts the ability to set rank limits on the games again. It's not going to filter out the alts/ guests, but it should help stop the widespread rape that happens in teh beginners' lobby, and some silly r6 from thinking they own teh noobs.

Are you dense? I've never said anything remotely similar to that, what I said is "before you attempt to change the rank limit, remove ANY and ALL ways to play in beginners after being past the limit" because a rank limit is useless if you can easily just slip past it and continue to play in beginners.
