I'm pleased to announce a new strategy called "Insurrection" is now available for a limited time!

Insurrection is based on an idea from Apocalypse (thank you sir!). This strategy gives powerful Militia (Ground Secondary Defense) units at the cost of more expensive transportation, -2 attack for all other units. I think it will make an interesting new way of playing low income areas of the map, that otherwise might be overlooked.

Insurrection will be available for 1 month, until March 6, 2019. So give it a try!




By the way, we're going to start introducing new strategies, upgrades, and units (including perhaps buildings) on a rotating basis. The goal is something new to try each month. Already I have heard so many good ideas from the community, but I don't want to add too much all at once. So we'll do this rotating system so we can try something different each month. Who knows, if something is really popular we might even add it permanently.




Strategy Update 2019 #2
Based on feedback since the last strategy update, I've decided to make the following updates to our existing strategies:

Change #1: Lucky Bastard (LB) de-nerf a little
  • Removed the +10 Cost for Militia only. (Personally I think it was fine with +10 cost across the board, but others thought it was too much... So I think this is the best compromise.)


Change #2: Desert Storm (DS) nerf 2.0
  • Put back the +1 capacity for Helicopters (Removing capacity made the strat useless for lower rank players who don't have the capacity upgrade... for high rank players the extra capacity doesn't make much difference anyway.)

  • -1 defense for Helicopters instead.


As always, try them out and let me know what you think. We might adjust other strats next time around.

Lastly, a reminder to scenario players -- if you are concerned about strategies effecting the balance of your scenario, don't forget there is a "disable strategies" option you can use when starting a new game.

Good to see that some variation is being applied, and that's a starting. Of course you won't get everyone happy... this might lead to future changes anyway. If scenarios are ruined, then tell your players picking that strat is forbidden, while it's gone or balanced. If we applied anything new with previous discussion it will take years to apply, just like LB and DS nerf, how many pages of posts there's already? Just let it happen.

People are upset because they can't just RUSH turn 1 and have to actually expand and play the game. The people complaining don't know how to play anything besides Lucky Bastard.

You should give "people" more credit. And your reasoning is poor. Sm and ds are played on midrange starting fund settings and lb is more expensive in its current form than all those strats. Even sky menace.

Because that's how you get a VERY broken strategy. I understand the logic behind "if everyone can use it then it's okay". But once EVERYONE only uses that strat because it is superior to everything else then that is definitely when it needs a nerf.

With the transports nerfed I can't even properly chain units. Every move becomes predictable.

This strategy dumbs gameplay completely down.
Worst of all I can't pick anything else if I don't want to get my ass kicked.

I think it has a similar concept to RA because all you do with RA is drag tanks around but maybe militia with 6 attack is super op me thinks.

Actually, if you gave INSURRECTION militias's an extra doze of stealth, would make a good deal of a difference.. other than buffed stats and weaken all the others.. I maybe wrong, but I mean, most of those insurrectionists you see do pop up out of nowhere right?

At first glance this looks like quite an uneven strategy. Most people will be spamming just militia when they use this strategy. Usually most strategies nerf some units and boost others. This one feels like half baked version of gw. If the point of this strategy is for low income countries gw already accomplished that.

Ok, after trying it for few games I would say this is bad strategy. The strategy basically involves spamming militia. Hell militia has same attack strength as tanks. Since this is a one unit strategy I would suggest increase the price of militia by 10 and reduce range by 1. Otherwise this is way over powered.

One strategy similar to this is GW. But even GW didn't have this way over powered militia. Gw is essentially a stealth strategy that means to beat gw you need to attack its marines (weaker defense). Also in gw militia don't have the range same as insurrection. Here you have a single unit that is good for both attack and defense.

Imagine playing turkey 3 v 3 with this strategy.....

This new strategy is pretty uneven. It's impossible to win against it on default Europe or Europe+ map, for example.

At least give and option to disable specific strategy on game making.

Okay tried it in a game. It's still very strong, but not as crazy as it used to be. I think it needs a -1/-2def for infantry and then it should be in a state where it's not OP.
