It's been only 4 days since the Custom maps alpha launch, but thing have been evolving quite rapidly. We have 255 maps now (127 published) - most of them of questionable quality, but there are a few gems as well. Given time, I belive we will have some excellent custom maps on our hands, some probably surpassing the default map.

Meanwhile, we've been working hard on fixing all the bugs (of which there were plenty!). All of the worst ones are gone now; still a few minor ones left to weed out. Thanks a lot to everyone who was helping us with bug reports!

There were a lot of helpful suggestions as well - some already implemented (editor tools), others are still on the to-do list. The most recent addition is the customizable color scheme, allowing to fit labels and borders to you particular map and to use lighter maps.

New stuff

  • Country borders, country and city labels and color scheme are now customizable! You can select color (and transparency) and adjust country border thickness. If your map already has everything drawn on it, you can get rid of borders and labels altogether. Another option is 'color scheme' - at the moment you can only choose between "light map" and "dark map". This will affect things like unit movement lines and icon borders, to make sure they are not lost on the map. All these settings are available in the Map options menu -> Colors tab.

  • People with ANY Premium packs are now able to access alpha! Note that in the beta release you will still need a proper pack/subscription.

    Fixes

  • Money bug (player was suddenly losing/gaining billions)

  • Various unit movement bugs (except "teleporting") - 0 units stack, duplicate units, units not moving etc.

  • Units not building

  • Saving map borders & cache issue

  • Units on top of another players (or neutral) city

  • Custom maps not loading

  • Chat panel bugs

  • Range reset bug

  • Attacking two nearby cities/units

  • Global chat

  • Editor tools - icons, cursors and descriptions

  • Defence bonus list in unit menu

  • Defence line bugs

  • Passable "no-go" areas

+ Lots of other minor stuff

I suggest to give to the first joiners "alpha trooper" trophy in the players profile, and "PhD" trophy for the players that reported bugs in first days for the release of custom maps.
it will be nice to have another trophy

Will we keep the Sp/medals/premium from the Account we earn in the current Alpha or the Stuff we have at the current AW Version?

A offical Statement would be nice

Since it was released on premium first so they could help iron out bugs, once most of the bugs have gone will we (F2P) get to play? I'm dieing to make a real world map with lichenstein and monacco and andora :3

The only thing I noticed in that thread was the,

"People with ANY Premium packs are now able to access alpha! Note that in the beta release you will still need a proper pack/subscription."

    Thanks !

I think more players will now report bugs etc..
